The National PTA Youth Council provides young people with opportunities to use their voices, strengthen their leadership skills, connect with other youth leaders and contribute their perspectives to work that impacts students, families, schools and communities. Youth Council members have opportunities to engage in meaningful projects, national initiatives, leadership development and collaborations that elevate youth voice.

National PTA 2027 Convention Call for Workshop Proposals

The call for workshop proposals for the 2027 National PTA Convention, held June 17-20 in Grapevine, Texas, is now open! We invite passionate leaders, educators, parents, students, advocates and community partners to share their knowledge, experiences and innovative ideas as presenters. Individuals may submit a maximum of three proposals each.

If your proposal is selected, you will receive a discounted rate. Please note that presenters are responsible for their own travel, lodging, registration and other associated expenses.

The Call for Proposals closes Sept. 4 at 5:00 p.m. ET. All applicants will be notified of the status of their proposal in November 2026.

Our Commitment to Diverse Voices

As part of this call for proposals, National PTA is committed to creating a Convention program that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. We especially encourage submissions from individuals who have not previously presented at a National PTA Convention and from presenters representing historically underrepresented communities and perspectives. Our attendees benefit from a wide range of voices, lived experiences and innovative approaches, and we appreciate your willingness to contribute to an engaging and inclusive learning experience.

What We're Looking For

All proposals will be peer reviewed and evaluated based on their relevance, quality, participant engagement strategies and potential to inspire and equip PTA leaders to strengthen their associations and better serve children, families and communities. Descriptions of the session types we are accepting can be found here.

We are looking for practical, interactive sessions that provide attendees with actionable strategies, innovative ideas and resources they can immediately apply within their PTAs and communities. While we have identified several priority topic areas below, we welcome proposals on any topic that aligns with National PTA's mission and supports the growth, effectiveness and impact of PTA leaders.

2027 National PTA Legislative Conference (LegCon): Request for Presenters

Sessions for National PTA's 2027 Legislative Conference (LegCon) will serve as an opportunity for training and skill building of PTA advocates and community members. Please complete the following form if you have sincere interest in presenting in-person in Arlington, Va., March 1-3 at LegCon 2027. Spots are limited and we will inform you by December 1, 2026, if your proposal has been selected. The deadline to submit a proposal is Sept. 4, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. ET. Details

  • LegCon 2027 will be in-person and take place March 1-3 in Arlington, Va.
  • If you are selected to be a presenter, you will be expected to be onsite for at least the day of your presentation and you will need to pay your own way for travel.
  • Presenters that plan to attend the entire event of LegCon (PTA leader, other general attendee) will be guaranteed the Early Bird registration rate which is a $30 discount from regular registration.

2027 Outstanding State PTA Advocacy Award 🏆 

Awarded to one state PTA that through their dedication, leadership and efforts positively affected legislative and/or regulatory policy aligned with National PTA's current public policy platform, such as family engagement, school safety, welcoming/ inclusive schools and digital safety.

2027 Outstanding Local PTA Advocacy Award 🏆 

Awarded to one local, district, council or region PTA that through their dedication, leadership and efforts positively affected legislative and/or regulatory policy aligned with National PTA's current public policy platform, such as family engagement, school safety, welcoming/inclusive schools and digital safety.

2027 Outstanding Youth Advocate of the Year 🏆 

Awarded to a young person (defined as someone under 18, or still in high school at the time of nomination) who exemplifies the qualities of creativity, leadership and dedication, and has positively affected policy or change in their school or community in a way that aligns with PTA's mission and goals. (The youth individuals must be a member of a PTA or PTSA.)

2027 Shirley Igo Advocate of the Year Award 🏆 

Awarded to one individual who most exemplifies the qualities that made one of PTA's greatest child advocate leaders, former National PTA President Shirley Igo, a true advocate for all children. Former President Igo was a model of public service and volunteerism throughout her life. She was an impassioned and compassionate leader, dedicated to moving PTA forward and committed to ensuring that others would follow.
